“For the extra symbolism of the product, we designed the honey packaging to be hexagonal pots. Not only will the product be differentiated from most packages on the market, but there is an interesting opportunity to stack the pots in the form of a honeycomb and it also has a link to the complete logo and visual identity. Accordingly packaging has hexagonal wooden sleeve for the lid. Wood will contribute in providing additional warmth and charm and symbolism of naturally produced products.”

“Branding and collateral for a liquor store that focuses on personal service and local community. Collateral includes business cards, promotional posters, coozies, coasters, and packaging for sampler packs. Sections of the six pack can be torn off, turning it into a four pack or two pack. This ensures a longer lifetime for the packaging and increases the portability of the beer case as well. The cases were made with recycled materials, soy-based inks, and zero adhesives in order to lower the environmental footprint.”

I stumbled into design on accident and have been hooked ever since. The intersection of communication and creativity really energizes me and pushes me forward. I ground my work in strong conceptual thinking and an attention to detail. I have a passion for building brands and accept as much freelance as I can manage while focusing on my studies.

Melanice Chernock   |   http://melaniechernock.com

Love Hurts was created based on an assignment to make an activity book. I thought it would be more interesting to make a sort of activity kit instead. From there, I came up with the concept of Love Hurts: A first aid kit for a broken heart. Initially, I knew that I did not want to make a kit of sadness and wanted to approach the product with a sense of humor. Love Hurts contains all of the essentials for going through a rough breakup such as dark chocolate, vodka, an excellent mix CD, and, if all else fails, tissues. All of the products come neatly packaged in a compact kit. A promo video was also made to show the products in use. “

Melanie Chernock is a graphic designer/animator/recent graduate based in New York. her goal is to create work that is communicative, humorous, and surprising. in the past, she has worked for vice magazine and chermayeff & geismar.
