Identity for Woods Yard embraces chaos and encourages a sense of spontaneity by Swear Words





Boasting an expertly curated wine selection driven by intimate knowledge and delivered with humour and confidence, the experience at Woods Yard is diverse, fluid, and constantly fascinating.

The confident kitchen serves simple food done to perfection — here today, gone tomorrow; new dishes always hit the right note, but the classics are mercifully retained.






Elevated taste delivered with authenticity and a sense of humour – the Woods Yard identity is playful, energetic, warm, and confident.

Featuring a naive typographic and illustration style, it eschews traditional wine bar tropes to deliver unique brand communication that is disarmingly approachable, familiar, and lovable.

Swear Words’ brand design embraces chaos, with several variations of logotype lockups and abstracted illustrations that encourage a sense of spontaneity and imperfection, in contrast with the sophistication of the interior design and expertly curated wine and food offerings.

By taking a risk and ignoring the tropes of a traditional wine bar, Woods Yard has stamped its unique mark on the Melbourne scene.
